Think Vitamin needs an email overhaul methinks.
2.22.2010
I don’t like to overstep my boundaries often, if ever. But I felt compelled to do so this past Friday.
This was because I received my first email from ThinkVitamin after joining their mailing list earlier this month. ThinkVitamin is the blog of the extremely talented webbers from Carsonified. Their site and blog is extremely well designed and built, so I figured their email template would follow suit.
However, I was extremely disappointed when I opened their email only to find what I would describe as a cookie-cutter template that was being used. I found this ironic and slightly funny after reading an article on their blog about cookie-cutter websites nowadays. Besides the same colors (sort-of) used in the email and on their website, I felt nothing in the email continued the brand they had obviously worked hard to establish.

Best practices are best for a reason, so play nice.
12.9.2009
I get a lot of emails every day. I read a lot of them, but I also just pass by some of them until I have a free moment, either later at home or the following day. Not all of them are aesthetic wonders, but more importantly the content is what I want to read. Like everyone, I get my fair share of lovely junk / SPAM emails, but the filters do a pretty good job with those. I also get emails that I don’t recall exactly how I got on the list, and unless something is really out of whack, I’ll just unsubscribe from them.
However, this past week I received three emails that really stood out to me, and not in the good way that a marketer would like to. One from a contact I used to speak with about email marketing (email expired…) services, and two from marketing agencies; one from Vovici here, and one from Wildfire here.
